Hello and welcome to my Blog, my name is Chris, a bus driver for First West Of England based in Wells, Somerset. I am Chair for the depot branch of Unite the Union. Married to Fiona, we live in Midsomer Norton near Bath, with Boots the cat. My main hobby is Amateur Radio and I hold the call sign G4KVI. I am the repeater keeper for GB3UB and MB7UB. I have a fascination for the weather and all things to do with nature and science. As a Christian I worship at St. Nicholas Church in Radstock. These are my observations on my life, both at work and at home.

New Church
Seems my search for a new place to worship is complete. I have returned to the first church we attended when we moved to this area back in 1998. It has a new vicar but unfortunately a small congregation. However, the teaching is good and a feeling of the presence of God. Time, of course will tell but a do feel a calling to worship here.

Struggling with church
Last few months I have been struggling with church. Not with God, although it can be hard to sometimes understand that you are part of a great plan and that your struggles are in fact preparation for a fight yet to come. So, back to church. Have found the last months at church a little hard and at times it seemed that the people were the centre rather than God. Few weeks ago decided to give a 'traditional' service a go again. I had forgotten how 'formal' the service is. However, I soon realised that this focuses the mind back to God, and after a busy week where God can be pushed to the side it puts him back to the centre and gives you back your purpose. I will see how it goes till after Christmas and then will make a final decision about where I want to carry out my formal worship.

Back home
Back home after two weeks at New Wine. I think it has been the best in many years. Certainty the driest! I have felt a real sense of peace which I haven't felt in a long while. It was a good time with some very good friends, both old and new. I found I had time to spend listening to what God has been saying to me and perhaps have not heard. That is not just to slow down, but to stop and listen to what God wants from any given situation, and also to pray before a task rather than asking for help when it's all gone wrong! So today very much a chill day and prepare for work tomorrow. I am feeling strangely excited.

Trusting God?
The last couple of years have been hard for me and at times I have found my faith being challenged, also recently I have found myself behaving in ways that, as a Christian I have been quite ashamed about. However, over the last few months I have been trying with the help of You Version to read and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. Also as I have been using the bus to get to and from work I have spent a lot of time listening to UCB. Through these I have begun to feel God speaking to me. I have felt more relaxed and less worried about things. Problems have not gone away but I have been able to hand them to God and begin to except that these are all part of his plan for my life. One of the things I been thinking about for some time is the Church I attend. I have been at St Nicholas ever since we came to Midsomer Norton, but lately I have found it increasingly difficult to motivate myself to go. Our local schools hosts Welton Baptist Church on Sunday morning and for some time I have been thinking of attending but I have to say I have been fearful of going to another Church. Anyway with Easter today I felt it was the right time to go and have a look. I don't know what I was expecting but I felt like I really fitted in. I am not saying I don't fit in at my present Church but today while sitting and listening and worshipping I felt excited and really felt Gods presence. So, I will have to see how things go, I don't want to fall into 'the grass is always greener' trap. I will have to see how things progress.
